The Subjects

Primary and Basic skills
We teach children basic skills including numeracy and literacy. Children who need extra help with their English and maths make good progress from our tuition and can improve their grades in their key stage 1 and 2 SAT’S examinations. We have plenty of past papers and resources for children to learn from and practice exam techniques.

School Entry Exams and Assessments

Local Grammar Schools e.g. QE Boys use an entrance exam in year 6 for selecting children for admission in year 7, the first year of secondary school.
Independent day schools e.g. Haberdashers’ Aske’s set entrance exams at 7+ and 11+. These entrance exams often involve Maths, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning. At 13+ schools often require the Common Entrance Exam, a far reaching examination requiring testing in all aspects of the curriculum.
We are experts at preparing children for these exams and have past papers (where published ) that we have collected over the years.

Key stage 3

Children are prepared in maths, English and science subjects using relevant resource materials and past papers. These exams taken in the summer term of year 9 form the basis of the important work to follow for GCSE’s in years 10 & 11. Good grades obtained at key stage 3 are important and our extensive experience in teaching children these subjects is reflected in the improvements that children make in their grades.

GCSEs

We teach maths, sciences, English and languages by revising school work or practising past examination papers. Good progress is made at all levels and we are able to help improve grades of pupils studying at the foundation, intermediate or higher levels.
